REVIEW: Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Curl Scrunching Gel

7/19/2012

I admit It's a given fact that the hair is a woman's crowning glory. Most of the time, your hair defines your mood and your hair condition can either make or break your day. And, don't you know that your hairstyle can also accentuate your outfits?

Ever since I got my hair digitally permed last March, I am always on the lookout for products that can always make it look shiny and manageable and at the same time, adding bounce and shine to my hair. I have already tried many products (will also make a review on them soon) but this one is currently what I'm using now.

Fused with french lavender and jade extracts and marketed with a gel formulation, this product aims to tame the frizzy curls away and locks in moisture to your waves and curls. Its weightless formula fights frizz so your hair looks its smooth and silky best.

This is primarily a styling gel that gives your curly hair a scrumptious scrunch. Not to mention, this product also comes in a very cute packaging, with product description written in both English and French. One tube contains 170g.

 What I like:

  • the scent - smells like lavender and very pleasing
  • even though it comes in a gel, it's not sticky in the hands after you apply it
  • defines curls and can create waves
  • adds shine to the hair
  • affordable at P219.00 per tube

What I don't like:

  • frizz control is a so-so. For someone like me whose hair has been subjected to lots of treatments, this product doesn't meet my standards in frizz control. Better yet, use an anti-frizz serum in conjunction with this product for better results.
  • This imported product is not readily available in almost all department stores.
  • You have to use a liberal quantity of the product in order to get the desired results.

Will I repurchase:
Maybe, but definitely I am going to test other products that can tame and glorify my curly hair.

Hair Tips:

  • Invest in a good shampoo and conditioner. Splurge if you may but if it makes your hair beautiful and frizz-free then it's going to be worth it.
  • If you're thinking of having your hair digitally permed (like mine), do not color it first for it will just dry out your hair. You can opt to color your hair a month after the perm

How about you? How do you take care of your curls? I'd love to hear from you.
