CULTURE AND CAUSE AT MARCO POLO DAVAO'S FASHION AND FUSION 2017

8/10/2017

Mindanao's first and only premier hotel, Marco Polo Davao, opened another Kadayawan season with its annual tradition, Fashion and Fusion, last August 01, 2017, giving honor to the city's own culture, arts and culinary highlights  in its showcase of local talents and flavors.

Hotel guests were welcomed with a stunning tribal and ethnic display designed by the hotel's very own Dionelo Balofinos, together with the T'nalak Home artistry and indigenous instrument collection of Arch. Jose Racho. In addition to that, the lobby turned into a depiction of a local's evolution of life in the field of family, community and relationship, with a display of paintings made by a local grown Mindanaoan artist, Mr. Victor Dumaguing.

A fashion event would not be complete without a runway show but this year, Marco Polo Davao made this season more meaningful among others by highlighting its love and support for the Philippine Eagle. Ten pairs of Philippine Eagle stuff toy dressed in indigenous garb representing the different tribes of Davao were paraded by the hotel's gorgeous and dashing associates, including GM Dottie Wurgler-Cronin.

All the Philippine Eagle stuff toys are open for auction at Php 2,500.00 starting bid. Since eagles are monogamous, these toys are also bidded in pairs. Proceeds of this initiative will directly go the Philippine Eagle Foundation.

Davaoeños are invited to take a look at the festive exhibit located at the hotel lobby which will run until August 21, 2017.
