Review: MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation
8/29/2012
Hello pretty readers! It's time again for another product review and this time, the spotlight is on for MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation SPF 15.
I do believe that a foundation is one of the beauty essentials that every growing woman should have. One can rely on foundations for the much-needed coverage when your skin's at its most imperfect state, for that bright glow when your skin looks dull, and for the flawless finish for your skin's uneven tone.
Due to expire: Oct 2014 |
What MAC says about the Studio Fix Fluid:
A modern foundation that combines a natural matte finish and medium-buildable coverage with broad spectrum UVA / UVB SPF 15. Comfortable, long-wearing and lasts up to 8 hours. Applies smoothly, builds coverage quickly and easily. Contains specially treated micronized pigments and soft-focus powders for a super-smooth look that helps minimize the appearance of imperfections. Absorbs and disperses oil. Contains special skin-conditioning ingredients. Oil-free.
This shade is in NW20. |

What Miss Litratista thinks:
This foundation is both a mixture of pros and cons in it. I like that it is able to provide me the coverage that I need especially in covering up my dark post-acne spots. I can skip using the concealer for those tiny imperfections because this foundation can already provide a buildable natural coverage, and I can build it up to a fuller coverage if I want to just by adding another layer on my skin. The SPF 15 is an added bonus, although one will definitely go for a higher SPF in this warm tropical country. It is also good to note that expiration dates are printed on the bottle and on the box so you'll really know the shelf-life of the product. Although other people find this expensive, I guess the product is worth the price because a little of it can go a long way and I think this will last me for years considering that I only use this on times that I need to glam up and be picture-perfect!
What I don't like with this product is that it actually tends to be choosy with its environment. Based on experience, this foundation melts easily in warm and humid environment and that it doesn't last up to 8 hours, which is quite contrary to what MAC says. However, when I used this and stayed in a cool air-conditioned place, the product stayed longer and provides me a very good natural-matte finish. Most of the time, it's really unavoidable to be exposed to warm temperatures especially when you're here in the Philippines. So what I usually do to make it lasts longer and performs better is to apply this foundation in a cooler area and allow it to set with my MAC Skinfinish before going out in a warmer place. In that way, I'm able to appreciate what MAC says about this product. Another thing I also don't like is the smell. The foundation tends to give off a distinct smell which I don't find pleasing. Oops!
To sum it up, I think this product does it job pretty well except that you have to be also choosy when to use it. If you're going to be outdoors the entire day, skip this one even though it say that it's oil-free and long-lasting. If you're going to be indoors and in a cooler area, use this by all means especially if you're going to an event. Go ahead and fascinate people with your flawless look!
Have you also used this one? What do you think of this product? I'd love to hear from you!

thanks a lot rachel!
DeleteAwesome review! I am still on the hunt for the perfect foundation that lasts all day....by the end of the work day, my makeup tends to have melted completely off my face (foundation and eyeliner especially) ! Out of all the makeup you've tried, is there one you've found particularly long lasting through humid, hot weather?

Hi S! Actually, i did found one but sadly I can't find in here in our city anymore. You know how primers can be very useful for a lasting make-up? I used Lioele Veil Vita BB Cream ( a Korean brand). It's actually a BB cream but it works as a primer, BB cream and moisturizer. It's the best BB cream I've tried but unfortunately, the store where I used to buy it no longer replenished their stocks. :( I attended on outdoor wedding, and it was very hot and humid, and my make up lasted the entire day without melting and caking! I did not even bother to retouch. It worked for me (coz I'm Asian) but I don't know if it will work for you. Since it's hard to find in the market, I'm on the lookout for a cheaper and better alternative but haven't found one yet. :(
DeleteI love this too! I use it as my HG foundation! :)

I think it's fake 'coz MAC doesn't put expiry date on their products, just product code :)
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous! I simply don't agree it's fake because aside from the expiry date, it also has a product code in the bottle and in the box. My sister also bought this from the MAC counter in one of the malls in Canada (i forgot from which mall) and was sent to me in MAC's paperbag. I hope you're also aware that authentic products have expiry dates on them for product safety and placing expiry dates is also one requirement of the FDA to ensure product safety, and for the information of consumers as to when a product is deemed safe to use. Those who are fake items are the ones which don't have expiry date on it. So if you happen to use a MAC with no expiry date, then maybe what you used was a fake one. Just my two cents. :)
DeleteHi, how much is this foundation? Also, what primer do you use with it? Thanks so much. :)
