Revamped: The Blue Room at Apo View Hotel

4/13/2013

After celebrating 65 years, Apo View Hotel once again makes waves as it announces the re-launch of its bar, Blue Room.  An all-out party on Saturday, April 13, featuring the pioneering tribal house group, DJ Elmer Dado + Gruppo Tribale, fetes the bar’s re-invention.

Following the success of the hotel’s famous night spots such as One Down Disco and Penec Bar in the 1980’s, Spam’s and Pag-asa Bar in the 1990’s, and Liquid in the 2000’s, Blue Room first opened its doors in 2004 as a premier music lounge.  The recent years saw the dominance of beer gardens, but with a new look and a fresh vibe, Blue Room hopes to stand out as a classic indoor bar.

The new Blue Room boasts of an extended counter and huge mirrors that give the bar a sleek and modern look.  A wider selection of classic drinks and new additions to their bar chow, all at a lower price, are also part of the new Blue Room’s lure.

Rediscover traditional cocktails such as the refreshing Moscow Mule or the old fashioned Whiskey Sour.  Other new cocktails to try are their Negroni, Mint Julep and Gibson.  Of course crowd favourites such as the Mojito and Margarita are still available.  A variety of local and imported beers are also available for as low as P50.  A beer and a shot of Cuervo is a winning combo at only P100.

This refreshing take on Blue Room is brought about by Apo View Hotel’s new President and CEO, Chris Pamintuan, who belongs to the 3rd generation of the Pamintuan family.  Prior to taking over the family business last year, Pamintuan found success in the bar industry being an investor of a popular pub in San Francisco called Hog & Rocks.  His experience and expertise will surely benefit Blue Room’s reinvention.  “We want to create more bar options for fun-loving Dabawenyos who are looking for more than the usual al fresco drinking or club scene,” said Pamintuan.

With the addition of new cocktails and food items, along with familiar favourites in a newly renovated but still familiar setting, and with even more reasonable prices, Blue Room is sure to rejuvenate Davao’s nightlife as it aims to reach out to a wider market while still satisfying loyal customers.

Blue Room is located at Apo View Hotel, Davao City’s first hotel and the country’s second longest running hotel.   For more information on the hotel, contact (082) 221-6430 or visit www.apoview.com.  For updates on Blue Room, visit their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/blueroom.apoviewhotel.
