#WonderfulMindaNOW: 10 Things Not To Miss In Davao

6/26/2014

Davao has been a home to me for 27 years but it wasn't surprising to know that there are still new places to discover and new things to try in my hometown. With the Kadayawan Festival fast approaching this coming August, I am pretty sure that tourists will surely flock again to Davao City for the celebration, so if you're going to be one of them, this post might be helpful.

As mentioned in my previous blog entry, I took some time off from my blog and wandered around Davao for 10 days to discover new places and experience both new and old ideas of what not to miss when you're in Davao. So here's my list of happy 10 which truly makes Davao City deserving of being in #WonderfulMindaNOW.

1. ECHOSTORE

A store, a market and a cafe rolled into one, Echostore brings more than just delectable organic dishes and sustainable food. And for every meal you order from the store, you got to feed a community of farmers. They also sell organic products which are proudly Philippine-made and guaranteed safe.

2. LETICIA BY THE SEA

Davao is indeed very blessed to have a neighboring island which you can run to should you wish to take a Vitamin Sea break. A quick respite from the hustle of the city life, Leticia By The Sea offers a captivating view, sparkling blue waters, an expanse of white sand and privacy, which you can't get from any other resorts.

3. DAVAO DENCIA'S RESTAURANT

A sweater and bed weather, like what Davao is currently enjoying, deserves only the best congee + tokwa't baboy + fresh lumpia from Davao Dencia's Restaurant! I always wish they'll also deliver food!

4. MATINA TOWN SQUARE

For music, booze and good food, head on to Matina Town Square where a variety of dining establishments to choose from is situated. During the morning, it's a silent sanctuary but when the sun sets, it transforms into a venue of music and booze. Definitely one of the coolest spots in Davao City to chill!

Don't forget to try: music at Taboan and occasional Yoga and Zumba at the park
Location:  Matina, Davao City

An established name when it comes to offering the best halo-halo in town, Aling Foping's is definitely not a thing you should miss when in Davao. But for this adventure, I ordered Mais con Yelo, for a change, instead of the usual famous Halo-Halo here in Aling Foping's and oooooooh did it steal my heart away! One serving isn't enough!

10. MASSAGE AT THE PARK

Capping off my adventure with nothing but the best foot massage on the street along City Hall Drive.
